Chairman of the Kazakhstan National Committee of the World Petroleum Council
Distinguished colleagues, dear friends,

I welcome the participants and guests of the VII Youth Forum of the World Petroleum Council.
It is the first time that Kazakhstan is hosting a global youth event in the energy sector under the auspices of the World Petroleum Council. It is encouraging that the synergy between the Kazakhstan National Committee and the World Petroleum Council creates favorable conditions for effective interaction with key participants in fundamental energy processes.
The theme of the Youth Forum "Energy Transition: Dialogue of Generations" fully reflects the relevance of the global transformation of the industry and the unity of the international energy community in efforts to change the energy mix in favor of cleaner and more reliable energy sources, draw attention to the issues of slowing down global warming, and expand the use of modern digital technologies and innovations in the energy sector that reduce the carbon footprint of economic activity.
There are different opinions among experts about the concept of sustainable energy and the ways to assess the effectiveness of alternative approaches to achieving energy transition. In this regard, I hope that the outcomes of the Almaty discussion platform will serve as a solid foundation for innovative ideas and bold solutions of young participants of the Forum.
I trust that the Almaty forum will be able to draw attention to professional development and unlocking the creative potential of young professionals, and will also become a unique platform for young men and women from around the world who have engaged themselves in the oil and gas sector, where their promising ideas will be heard by recognized industry leaders. I am firmly convinced that creating conditions for the self-realization of a new generation of specialists is a key condition for maintaining the competitiveness of the oil and gas industry.
The Kazakhstan National Committee, for its part, is aware of the particular importance of continuity and dialogue of generations for the future of the energy industry and tried to create the best conditions in Almaty for the fruitful work of all participants of the event.
I sincerely wish everyone productive meetings on the sidelines of the VII Youth Forum of the World Petroleum Council and successful implementation of the plans.

Sincerely,

Timur Kulibayev,
Chairman of the Kazakhstan National Committee
of the World Petroleum Council
