Kazakhstan National Committee
Kazakhstan joined the World Petroleum Council in 1997. In June 2008, Kazakhstan renewed its membership in the WPC under the auspices of the KAZENERGY Association.
Since joining the World Petroleum Council Kazakhstan has implemented a number of initiatives to strengthen ties between members of the organization.
The Kazakhstan National Committee (hereinafter KNC) held a series of expert workshops on the local content development. Today, such workshops are held regularly on various topics in many countries.National Committee of Kazakhstan activities in the World Petroleum Council (WPC)
In 1997, on the initiative of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Kazakhstan has joined the World Petroleum Council and have attended the XV Congress in Beijing.
In June 2008, Kazakhstan has renewed its membership in the WPC which sponsored by KAZENERGY Association.
Chairman of the Kazakhstan National Committee - Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association is Mr. Timur Kulibayev.
On December 4, 2011, a regular World Petroleum Congress Council Meeting was held within the 20th World Petroleum Congress in Doha (Qatar), at which was approved the holding of the next World Petroleum Congress Council Meeting in Astana city.
In October 2012, a Council Meeting and the WPC Executive Committee and Congress Program Committee within the VII Eurasian Forum "KAZENERGY" were held in Astana city.
In January 2013, Kazakhstan sent an application to the WPC Secretariat for holding the next XXII Congress of 2017 in Astana city. Besides Kazakhstan, applications were also submitted from the USA (Houston), Turkey (Istanbul) and Denmark (Copenhagen).
On October 23, 2013, a WPC meeting was held in Calgary (Canada), at which, by ballot vote was decided to hold the XXII Congress of 2017 in Istanbul (Turkey). In general, Kazakhstan took part in the XIX, XX, XXI Congresses. As part of these Congresses, sessions dedicated to Kazakhstan were held and special exhibition stands were presented.XXII World Petroleum Congress
From July 9 to 13 of 2017, the XXII World Petroleum Congress “Bridges to Our Energy Future” was held in Istanbul (Turkey).
The Minister of Energy Mr.Kanat Bozumbayev, the Deputy Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association, Mr.Jambulat Sarsenov and other executives of large petroleum companies represented the Kazakh delegation, and representatives of the youth of the petroleum industry as volunteers of the Congress took an active part from the Kazakh delegation.
President of Turkey, around 20,000 participants, 6,000 delegates from 1,500 petroleum companies representing 119 countries have attended the Congress. High-level speakers include Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Mr. Berat Albayrak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Mr. Alexander Novak, President of Saudi Aramco Mr. Amin H. Nasser and others.
In general, the XXII World Petroleum Congress program included technical sessions, speeches, presentations, forums from several topic blocks: “Oil and gas production”, “Oil refining, petrochemistry, transportation and marketing”, “Natural gas: production technologies, transportation, markets”, “Management, HR policy, IT and security, geopolitics”.
During the XXII World Petroleum Congress (held on June 9-13 in Istanbul, Turkey), Mr. Jambulat Sarsenov, the Deputy Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association was elected to the position of Vice President for Marketing and Member of the WPC Executive Committee.WPC expert seminar on local content development
The initiative to conduct a complex of expert seminars, proposed by the Kazakhstan National Committee in the WPC Council Meeting of 2012 in Astana, have been supported by the members of the organisation.
Today, such seminars with the participation of industry experts are held on a regular basis on various topics in many countries around the world.
The Kazakh National Committee (KNC) held a circuit of expert seminars on the development of local content. The results of these seminars were presented by the KNC of WPC at a separate session of the XXI World Petroleum Congress on June 17, 2014 in Moscow city. Moreover, in 2015, a round table was held on preparation for the World Petroleum Council Expert Seminar “Development of Local Content in the Context of Integration Processes” within the framework of the X KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum.WPC Day within the EXPO
On September 5 of current year, the World Petroleum Council Day was held within the framework of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana city, WPC President Mr.Tor Fjaeran took part in this event. During the visit of WPC representatives, bilateral meetings were held at which further cooperation were discussed.
