Transferability of Skills: Business and Academia Perspective When academics are looking for industry jobs, they may hear and believe they lack business skills. However, is this true? Transferable skills are those skills that are needed to adapt to various life contexts and which individuals can potentially transfer to different work and social environments. Nowadays transferable skills are also known as twenty-first century skills. Academics have indeed many transferable skills and can be great assets to business companies. The great issue is how to translate and adapt our academic experience in a manner that can be better understood outside academy.

The Role of Natural Gas in Decarbonization This session is devoted to the discussion of the enhancement of natural gas utilization and its impact on a decarbonization. Over the past half century, natural gas has revolutionized the global fuel market. In the context of improving environmental requirements, today gas, as the most environmentally friendly fossil fuel, retains the most long-term competitiveness. Innovations in this segment can have a high impact on future energy supply. What is the potential for increase gas production in the medium term? How to upgrade prospects and potential of existing and planned gas infrastructure? How long will natural gas maintain its position as the most demanded hydrocarbon resource?

Global Energy Security: Path to New Reality The global energy markets are going through a difficult period. First the pandemic and now the geopolitical environment is having a significant impact on oil and gas markets. The global oil and gas industry is entering a phase of fundamental structural changes. However, it remains to be seen how exporting countries are ready and able to increase production and change established supply routes. All this raises a number of key long-term questions for the oil and gas industry: how much will the market situation for raw material flows change? How will the energy transition process take place in the world, taking into account the new realities? What is the role of Kazakhstan in the new energy agenda?

Digital Leadership – A New Phase and Opportunities The future of energy is connected with the brand new digital technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence, which determines the emergence and development of "digital" demand. Digitalization is essential to address today's energy challenges and improve efficiency in all aspects of the oil and gas sector, and offers an endless array of new investment opportunities. The session will enhance the discussion on how digitalization and artificial intelligence improve the functionality, performance, and increase overall quality and efficiency in the industry.

Petrochemicals: Development of Sustainable Models The petrochemicals industry is at a crossroads as it is experiencing both cyclical and structural shifts. While the industry was already facing cyclical pressures such as overcapacity, pricing pressures, and trade uncertainty before 2020, many post–COVID-19 changes have a structural or disruptive character. Unlike the past downturns that were primarily more cyclical in nature, petrochemical companies are now experiencing significant fundamental shifts in demand, changes in how they operate, and the way they interact with and serve customers on a much larger scale. Because of these profound changes, the industry will likely look very different in the next decade.

International Efforts for the Energy Transition The energy transition is the answer of many countries of the world to the solution of the global problem of combating climate change. Analysts have every reason to believe that in the long term, thanks to regulation in many countries of the world, scaling up technologies and reducing costs, low-carbon energy will gain new strength. What are the international efforts for the development of low-carbon energy develop in the short term? How do international efforts in the field of energy contribute to the Energy Transition? Which regions can become the engines of Energy Transition?

Transitions Pathfinder: Role of Young Professionals Independence Hall
In recent years, the image of the O&G industry has been transforming. Managing the increasing talent gap, retaining young people in the industry and fostering diversity and inclusion in the workforce are some of the acute topics. How will the workplace change over time and how do companies manage the transition? How can companies manage talent through boom and bust cycles and at the same time retain the knowledge and experience within the industry?

Post-COVID: New Policies and Work Standards. Mobility of Global Workforce (TBC) In Kazakhstan and around the world, the labor market was already facing disruptive changes before 2020. A shrinking workforce, the rise of digitalization and automation, and shifts in skills needed were already at the center of global policymaking worries. The COVID-19 pandemic forced faster adaptation to new ways of working and propelled existing trends forward at full speed. These approaches have laid the basis for the “new normal” likely extending into the organization of work in the post-pandemic era. These new arrangements, especially flexible work arrangements, have challenged traditional relationships with employees and employers, work time and working hours, the work-life balance (WLB), and the relationship of individuals to work.

Net-Zero: Modern Technologies and Solutions for Clean Energy Cities and corporations around the globe are setting targets to radically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in order to control climate change. The path to net-zero is paved with new forms of energy generation. What are the possible roadmaps for the net zero transition. Opportunities for the development of renewable energy. What policies may be implemented? Which approaches have been effective so far?

Corporations & Start-Ups: How to Build Relationships Although some large energy corporations invest in or acquire startups, a growing approach to corporate innovation involves collaborating with small, high-growth companies. When a large corporation partners with a start-up the result should, in theory, be a win-win. Corporations possess resources and legitimacy that startups aspire for, while startups have agility and novel ideas that corporations value. How should companies approach collaborations to get the most value out of them? Why energy transition is an important time for collaborations between corporates and start-ups? What are the main motivations for large and small companies to team up these days?

Climate Change: Beyond Government Regulation There is no doubt that the global climate is changing. The average annual temperature increase causes deglaciation and the rise of the global ocean level. In this regard, the consistent activity of oil and gas companies aimed at minimizing the impact on the environment is of great importance. The leading industry players have achieved some success in combating climate change but this experience requires further proliferation, development, and multi stakeholder cooperation.

The Power of Inclusion: Transforming Gender Diversity into Winning Results Despite making up an estimated 48% of the global labour force, currently women only account for 22% of the oil and gas sector. This is at a time when companies across the globe are starting to understand that greater diversity improves their ability to innovate and adapt, particularly important for the energy sector as it prepares to embrace new digital technologies and undergo a major structural transformation. This session will look at the role of gender parity and wider inclusion programmes and how their results are proving to be a strategic driver in strengthening business performance.

Meeting the Hydrogen Supply Challenge Low carbon hydrogen can be an excellent source of clean energy, which can combat global climate change and poor air quality. Hydrogen based economy can be a great opportunity for a many countries to decarbonize their sectors of economy. However, there are still some barriers to the realization of a hydrogen-based economy, which includes large-scale hydrogen production cost, infrastructure investments, bulk storage, transport & distribution, safety consideration, and matching supply-demand uncertainties. How to include the hydrogen in global energy mix? How to develop the multi-sector hydrogen supply chain? What is the role of policies in support of a multi-sector global hydrogen economy?

Energy Financing: How to Meet Energy Demand The energy transition poses ambitious practical challenges for financing green energy projects to ensure smooth and successful transit. Full transition to renewable sources by 2050 and net-zero will require hundreds of trillions of dollars. All this places very high demands on approaches to financing in the required volumes. The implementation of this set of issues and the achievement of the goals will require an appropriate, widely developed and effective system of financing and support, which is being formed at the present stage. This system includes along with traditional methods, new financial technologies and tools (for example, green blockchains, etc.).
